A stroll through La Villa de Teguise
Strolling through the village, an encounter with the living history of Lanzarote
The Real Villa de Teguise is the historic centre of the municipality and has been declared a historic-artistic architectural site. Considered one of the best preserved centres in the Canary Islands, its appearance has hardly changed since the 19th century. The loss of the island's capital status in 1852 and the economic crisis that followed slowed down urban development, which, paradoxically, allowed it to preserve its authenticity.

What will you find on the route?
Today, Teguise has found a new impulse in tourism, and struggles to preserve intact the layout of its streets, which have become a valuable cultural attraction. Even today, a stroll through the town is like travelling back to another era, where history is still present in every corner.
